Pastor and Producer, Media Missionary

Biography

Combining ordained ministry with thirty years of media experience, Rev. Dr. Steven Koster's career has been all about community through communication.

Steven currently consults through the Joshua Lab (joshualab.org), serves as an associate pastor at Grace Church (gracegr.org), and owns the historic Parsonage Inn B&B (parsonageinn.org). He researches people and history through the Dutch Root project (dutchroot.com).

Previously, Steven served as the Director of ReFrame Media, the English-language ministry of Back to God Ministries International, which presents the gospel through media around the the world in ten languages on behalf of the Christian Reformed Church in North America,

Steven was Senior Product Manager at Avid Technology, Inc. where he was responsible for the content, community, and digital exchange services on AvidProNet.com. And as Executive Producer for Calvin College, Steven pioneered a variety of traditional and online media initiatives from corporate video production to community-targeted web development.

As a volunteer, he founded a world-wide user community of professional film & video editors in the early days of the Internet. He served as President of FreeNet Services, Inc. as well as a trustee of Grandnet, Inc., non-profits working to build public access to the Internet.

He earned a D.Min from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, an M.Div from Calvin Theological Seminary, and an MA in Telecommunication from Michigan State University. Steven lives in Grand Rapids, MI with his wife, Rev. Deb Koster, in their 1882 Queen Anne B&B.
